Coming along to Pregnancy Yoga is a great way to meet other pregnant mums. It is also recommended as a way to stay healthy through pregnancy and can help relieve minor ailments associate with being pregnant.
Yoga during pregnancy can:
- promote relaxation and more restful sleep
- keep you supple and mobile
- relieve stress and anxiety
- relieve common ailments of pregnancy such as constipation and swollen joints
- give you quiet time to bond with your unborn baby
Our classes run weekly and we recommend starting from 16 weeks if you have never done yoga before or not practiced yoga recently. If you have been attending regular yoga classes prior to your pregnancy you may join the pregnancy class as soon as you feel it is appropriate.
Although there are no fixed start dates we ask you to book for 6 sessions (to be used over 8 weeks) at a time to ensure we keep class size to a maximum of 15 mums. Six sessions will also allow you to get to grips with the key techniques through repetition which is particularly important as the breathing and visualisation techniques can help during the birth.
If you are in full-time work you are entitled to time off to attend yoga classes as it comes under relaxation classes. Find out more here.
You will need a mat and a blanket for Pregnancy Yoga.
